About the Payroll Time Zone Calculator
When remote workers travel or collaborate across borders, clocking in and out can happen in completely different time zones. Furthermore, almost all modern payroll and billing systems require hours to be entered in decimal format (e.g., 7.5 hours) rather than standard time format (e.g., 7:30).
Standard vs Decimal Minutes
Translating minutes to decimals involves dividing by 60. Entering "7.3" into payroll does NOT mean 7 hours and 30 minutes; it means 7 hours and 18 minutes!

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do payroll systems use decimals?
Decimals allow for extremely easy multiplication. To find a worker's pay, you simply multiply their hourly rate by the decimal hours worked (e.g., $20/hr * 7.5 hours = $150). You cannot mathematically multiply $20 by "7:30" directly.
Does this tool account for Daylight Saving Time changes?
Yes. If a worker clocks in before a DST shift (e.g., at 1:00 AM) and clocks out after the shift (e.g., 3:00 AM, but the clock skipped 2 AM), the tool correctly calculates that only 1 hour has elapsed, not 2.
