About the Flight Calculator
Long-haul international flights can be incredibly confusing due to timezone shifts. By inputting your departure and destination locations along with flight duration, this calculator automatically handles Daylight Saving Time (DST) rules to instantly determine your precise local arrival time.
🛫 ➡️ 🌎
Flying East
You "lose" time. E.g. A 6hr flight crossing 3 time zones feels like 9 hours. You're catching up to tomorrow.
🌎 ⬅️ 🛬
Flying West
You "gain" time. E.g. A 6hr flight crossing -3 time zones means you land only 3 hours after you took off!
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you need my destination timezone?
If you just added flight duration to your departure time, you would get the arrival time in your HOME timezone. By selecting the destination's zone, we calculate the exact DST-adjusted offset so you get the local time you will see on clocks when you step off the plane.
What does "Arrives the previous day" mean?
If you cross the International Date Line flying East, you effectively jump backwards in calendar time. You could depart Tokyo at 10 PM on a Tuesday, fly for 9 hours, and land in Hawaii at 10 AM on that same Tuesday!
